surname and arms of Hillary by Royal Licence 1898.
Born Aug. 30, 1839, being the youngest son of Christopher
Richard Preston, Esq., of Jericho House, co. Essex, J.P.
and D.L., by his wife Elizabeth Mary, only dau. and
eventually heiress of Sir William Hillary, 1st Baronet, and
twin sister of Sir Augustus Willi im Hillary, 2nd Baronet.
Armorial bearings—Argent, three fleurs-de-lys between
six cross crosslets, three, two, and one, all within a bordure
sable. Mantling sable and argent. CreBt—Out of a mural
crown or, a cubit arm in armour proper, garnished gold,
encircled by a sash vert, the gauntlet holding a caltrap
erect of the first. Motto —“ Virtute nihil invium." Livery—
White and black. Married, Dec. 24, 1869, Marcella
Mary Ximenes, youngest dau. of the late Colonel Sackville

armour embowed, the part above the elbow in fesse proper,

2. upon a wreath of the colours, a demi-eagle couped or,

and holding in the beak a trefoil slipped vert (Pretor).
