This database is from the Kentucky Department for Libraries and Archives and originally entitled the Index to Kentucky Birth, Marriages, and Deaths (1911-1999) [CD]. The descriptive information here is adapted from that website. More information about the database may be available there.
These records contain an index of marriages from Kentucky. This database includes the following information: first, middle, last name of the bride and groom (when available), the gender, date and location of marriage, and the date of birth of each spouse. Also, when available, the index will include the residence, race, and age of each spouse at the time of their marriage. Also included is a unique file number, volume number, and potentially the volume page number.
Marriage records often offer insight about the unions found in your family tree. At a minimum, marriage records from Kentucky usually include the following information: the first and last names of each party, and the marriage date and location. More modern and detailed records from Kentucky can include the names of parents, place of residence of the bride and groom, and the officiant. You can then use this information to help you find your ancestors in other resources such as other newspapers, land, and probate records.
