Under and by the authority vested in me by the General Laws, you
are hereby appointed Assistant Town Clerk of the Town of Wakefield to
hold and exercise such office until further notice under my administration
as Town Clerk according to law under Chapter 41, Section 19, and amendments thereto.

Annual Town Meeting
MARCH 10, 1947
With an attendance of approximately one thousand voters, at 7.30
P. M., just previous to the calling of the meeting, Herbert D. Anderson,
outgoing chairman of the Board of Selectmen, took the platform and stated
that, with the indulgence of the voters for a few minutes, he desired to
perform a pleasant duty. Noting that the town has a new moderator, an
event which he said only occurs in this town every four or five decades,
he said it did not seem fitting that we should permit the retiring moderator
to terminate his services without proper recognition. He said a group of
interested citizens have caused to be inscribed a suitable scroll which he
desired to present to Thomas G. O’Connell, the retiring moderator, who
has served as such for most of the time for the past forty-eight years.
