During the year 1960 the Town of Hampton has experienced continued growth, change, and loss. The impact of the loss of our Chairman of the Board of Selectmen, Harry D. Munsey, will be continued to be felt in the years to come. His years of experience in the town government of Hampton was more than ten times the cumulative experience of the present Board of Selectmen and Town Manager.

It is expected that 1961 will be another year of growth, and that Hampton will continue to experience growing pains. In order to maintain present standards, we must not only increase efficiency but ask for more money. A positive approach must be taken in the field of planning, and the construction of services and facilities at this time. The citizens of Hampton could take the negative approach, but all it would do is postpone the eventual day of reckoning. We have tried to keep pace with the need of community by requesting that at least $50,000.00 of the budget be set aside for perma- Hampton Town Report 9

nent improvements in facilities, sidewalks, roads, sewers, and drains.
