Elder Brethren of the Trinity House. Armorial bearings—
He bears for Arms : Sable, a fesse invected between an an-
nulet and two mascles in chief, and a mascle between two
annulets in base or, within a bordure chequy of the last
and first, and for distinction charged upon the fesse with a
crescent of the field ; and impaling the arms of Craufurd of
Baidland and Ardmillan, namely gules, on a fesse ermine,
between three mullets argent, two crescents interlaced of
the field; and for his Crest, upon a wreath of the colours,
a mascle sable, interlaced with three ears of barley slipped
or; with the Motto, “Sapiens qui assiduus." Married,
January 21, 1884, Edith Caroline Sophia, widow of John
H. Irvine, and second daughter of Thomas Craufurd, third
son of Archibald Clifford Blackwell Craufurd of Baidland,
now of Ardmillan.
MITCHELL (L.O., 10 December, 1923.). Parted per
fess sable and or, in chief two mascles of the last, and in
doubled or. Crest—On a wreath of the colours, a stalk
of wheat slipped proper. Motto—“ Cresco."

Stirlingshire, b. 1847; d. 1920; tn. 1878, Isabella,
d. of Andrew Tod, of Elmpark, Edinburgh:—

of 23 Huntley Gardens, Glasgow; and has issue —

MITCHELL (H. Coll.) Per chevron gules and sable,
in chief two mascles, and in base a rose or, on a chief
dancettee of the third, two fleurs-de-lys of the second.
Mantling gules and or. Crest—On a wreath of the
colours, in front of two pipes in saltire or, a horse’s head
couped sable. Motto—“ Semper paratus.”

MITCHELL (H. Coll., 7 July 1920). Argent, three
piles conjoined one issuant from dexter chief azure,
one issuant from sinister chief gules, and one issuant
from base sable, between three chess-rooks that in chief
sable, that in the dexter gules, and that in the sinister
azure. Mantling azure and argent. Crest—On a wreath
of the colours, an heraldic tiger passant gules, holding in
the dexter paw a chess-rook sable. Badge—An heraldic
tiger passant gules, holding in the dexter paw a chess-rook
sable.
